Stupid Jerks
1 2 3 4.
before i take off for a month, i'm going to leave you with this pile of shit that is super-awesome and you should already have. most of these tracks have been posted all over the place (namely the van she tech), but for good reason (namely the van she tech).
Feist - 1234 (Van She Tech Remix)Electroluxe Family - Rock That ShitElectroluxe Family - Rock That Shit (Vicarious Bliss Remix)Steak Soundtrack - Chivers as a FemaleGoose - Bring It OnGoose - Bring It On (Teenage Bad Girl Remix)
i'm so into this band.
Electrelane. i really have only known their music for about.. 3 days? i'm in love already, although i've only been exposed to their most recent album,
No Shouts No Calls.
their an all girl band from England and i am pretty sure they are feminists (but let's ignore that as it doesn't really come across in their music anyway).
here are two of my favourites off their new album. they're worth a listen if you like
My Bloody Valentine-
Sonic Youth-
The Velvet Underground type of music.
cut and run - electrelanein berlin - electrelaneand the lyrics for Cut and Run, i mean, cmon, who hasn't felt like that before!
i also can't get enough of the new
Colourbook cd (because it's actually well recorded versions of all the weird demo songs i've had for like, ever), haw haw haw but you all know what it sounds like, don't you.
ayres.
HELIOS HAS A VOICE! it's actually very, very pretty.
but still different from works like
Eingya. different in a good way i guess, but it definitely does not have the same effect as his super sad ambient stuff did.
this new album is only 6 songs long, here are three:
the obeisant vine - helioswoods and gives away - heliosin heaven - helios (this one is a cover of that song from the movie Eraserhead)
nightly things that make the dead come.
hey... uhmm..
er, getting right to it -
Begushkin is a wonderful little gem i found while browsing around the internet tonight.
Dan Smith (i think i went to high school with someone with that name) IS Begushkin. i honestly don't know much about this band at all, but who cares anyway.
their sound is.. odd.. his voice sounds a lot like Josh Grier of
Tapes n Tapes, but with a definite
Will Oldham way of singing. so basically, fucking amazing. it's gloomy, eerie, with some fiddle going on, twangy guitar.. it's all just really beautiful, and i highly recommend you download these two songs.
nightly things - begushkinhearth light of our home - begushkinthe album
Nightly Things is out June 19th, and i want it!
and here is a song off the new LIMITED EDITION
Minus Story EP,
Make The Dead Come.
just because i used to listen to them a lot but then forgot about them and then found this and was like "hey, i used to like you guys, i wonder if you're still ok sounding."
follow the dead - minus story
Mer Du Japon.
yeah, it's been too long. i know. i'm sorry. let's not ever be apart this long again.
ok, now that's settled, i've got some premium shit lined up here. top notch jams.
The Teenagers must agree with me that 'Mer Du japon' is the best track off
Air's
Pocket Symphony. but they totally made it better.
Air - Mer Du Japon (Teenz Remix)you may know
Panther from his
amazing video for 'You Dont Want Yr Nails Done.' but he's more than a one track nobody with a badass falsetto. and now that i've tracked down his LP
Secret Lawns i can safely confirm that.
Panther - How Does It Feel?never tire of
Young Americans. nothing else from this continent makes me want to sweat so hard. i'm betting this track totally blows when it's not remixed. sorry,
Shiny Toy Guns, but your gothy-quasi-
Ladytron shit isn't selling me.
Shiny Toy Guns - Starts With One (Young Americans Remix)if by chance you're the type who calls everything played out once pitchfork has mentioned it, you must be long tired of
Sally Shapiro. but you probably secretly wish you could still like her without losing your status. fear not, you can just get into
Cloetta Paris. same hot disco style, different name.
Cloetta Paris - I Miss You Someonei almost forgot this
Braxe/Kris Menace track! i'm losing it!
Alan Braxe and Kris Menace - Lumberjacki love the shit out of this
Japanther track. makes me want to skate again. i don't know why.
Japanther - Seventy Ninemy ideas about what
The Tough Alliance are selling were completey thrown out the window about a week ago.
JJ showed me
this video, striking a
Tears for Fears chord deep in my heart. and i was sold immediately.
A New Chance is quickly becoming one of my favourites for the year.
The Tough Alliance - First Class Rioti'm pretty sure this is probably spinning at Lucky Bar as i type this.
Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (MSTRKRFT Remix)and for a laugh:
Young Folks Pussy
