  Still Reelin'
almost a week has passed and i still can't stop thinking about the ed banger show. most amazing thing ever.
but i feel bad because i've rubbed that fact in so much with everyone i know. i can stop talking about it now.
so here's some hot shit i dug up.

Dragonette - I Get Around (Van She Tech Remix)
you know how they do. so solid.

Sara Love - Let's Get Physical
a bunch of covers of this track popped up. such a classic track made so much hotter.

Bag Raiders - Fun Punch.
really fun. i don't know where i heard about bag raiders before, but i regret not listening to them sooner.

Talking Drums - Courage
i don't remember where i got this, but i remember reading it's a really great song to walk in the sunshine to. or something to that effect. and it totally is.

  everybody.
i just haven't been enjoying music these past couple of weeks. i sit in silence most of the time.

but this caught my eye, a new Sea and Cake album entitled Everybody. first release from the band in over 4 years! neat fact, Brian Paulson (worked with Slint & Wilco) produced this album instead of the Sea and Cake drummer John McEntire.
"more upbeat" and "more of a rock record", this lovely piece of work is out May 8th.

too strong - the sea and cake
middlenight - the sea and cake
lightning - the sea and cake

  Knightlife.
i really wish i could read french. it would make fluokids alot easier to understand. instead, i find myself just downloading pretty much every track they post and giving it a try. proves pretty worthwhile though.
take for example knightlife. i had no idea what they sounded like. but their name was posted in close proximity to cut copy and that's always a good sign. so i hit that myspace. and heard 'crusader.' and fell in love. 'ambobop' just put me over the edge.
i swear to god, australia is the new france.

so much harder than it should've been!
wow okay so i haven't posted in a long time.
main reason, i couldn't remember what email i used for this account! i'm an idiot.

so today i wake up and discover i feel horribly sick, so all day i've been battling the flu (or a possible infection from the cut on my arm?) and finding some new things to listen to.

one thing that caught my eye was the new Shapes and Sizes album. okay, i know i am probably one of the few people that likes them (and Caila's voice, although i perfer Rory's), but i was pretty excited for this. then i listened to Split Lips, Winning Hips, A Shiner and couldn't even make it through the album. i liked their super pop happy pretty sound with horns and banjo and la la la. but now it's like jagged guitar and annoying shimmery weird sounds that i can't even describe properly.
i just miss their old sound.

alone/alive - shapes and sizes

Rory's voice still sounds nice, at least.

another new album i found was Voxtrot's self titled. i've never listened to this band before, although i've had people suggest them to me. i should have checked them out sooner. i'm a sucker for this indie-pop stuff.

kid gloves - voxtrot

stephen - voxtrot

their style reminds me of Tapes 'n Tapes.

  Digitalism.
Ian passed this track along to me.
excitement for the new album has tripled.
Digitalism - Pogo

  It's On.
i think i've cleared it up with many of you, but i will be at the ed banger tour after all. me old pal stefan generously offered his ticket to me. in most cases i would refuse to take someone else's ticket to a good show so that i can go. but this is an exception.
anyways, to the tracks!
not much has been going on in the blog house scene for a few days. i don't know if it was SXSW or what, but everything kind of stopped dead. but the dry spell has ended. and fluo kids brought buckets. namely this simian mobile disco remix by the teenagers that makes me like the song way more now.
Simian Mobile Disco - It's The Beat (The Teenagers Remix)

oh and speaking of the teenagers this track has been kicking around for a while. a must hear for sure.
The Teenagers - Starlett Johansson

and back on remix sunday palmsout gave up this wicked reworking of the new feist track by boys noize. apparently feist + french electro = mad hot. it's probably her gonzales connection.
Feist - My Moon Man (Boys Noize Remix)

  No Banger.
my A+ #1 reliable source for ed banger tickets totally dropped the ball. so as of right now, it would appear i won't be attending. unless someone reading this has a hookup. i will seriously give you a testicle for a ticket. or some equivalent up to that value.
that depressing news aside, i did some remixing of myself because i don't a microphone right now and can't finish the new tracks i've been working on.
so yeah. fucknwhatevernshit.

Blinking (Done Up Mix)
Parts Inside Dreamboat

i'm not going to dance around the fact that parts inside dreamboat is really long and boring and kind of like a poorly done DFA remix. i'm not forcing you to listen to it.

  Fierce.
i've been craving some new badass electro/house shit. thankfully vicarious bliss and digitalism have stepped up for me.
these beats make this boy go crazy.
Vicarious Bliss - Electroluxe
Digitalism - TVTV

oh and young gun nick was over at my place for the hills (10-spot what!) night on monday and referred me to this oh-so-smooth remix of 90s popstar robyn. it totally makes me think of techno-remix saturday nights on Z95. and playland.
Robyn - Crash and Burn Girl (Jesper Dahlbäck Remix)

  pretty pointless.
can i just post this song because it's so cheesy ominous? too bad, i am.
is it weird that i like it anyway?

the maddening of raven - odawas

the Odawas album Raven And The White Night that i downloaded is pretty meh. it's super quiet and spacey and kind of boring. the best is that intro song, which is nothing like the rest of the album.

all i've been listening to lately is that new Cut Copy song and A Northern Chorus. some day soon i swear i will have some sweet new indie shit to deal out. i have an indietorrents account now, so nothing is stopping me.

today i purchased the ipod in ear headphones. my ears were like 'wtf!' when i put them in. it's really weird because the end of the ear bud is cushiony soft rubber and suctions to the inside of your ear. it totally blocks out all other sounds, making me oblivious to everything when i'm out and about.
so.. don't be surprised if you somehow hear about me getting hit by a car, because many know that i tend to just walk out into the street without really looking.
maybe i should start.

random song time!
missing children - okkervil river
i think this is my favourite Okkervil River song. this and For Real.

  You Asked For It.
new me-boat.

You and Me in the Photobooth.
i was planning on doing a post about nightmoves and featuring a selection of their totally awesome remixes. but then i was on their myspace and saw they are doing a remix for some UK band called Friendly Fires. so i got my hyperlink on and checked them out. and realised they are damn good. i think if i extracted all the parts of klaxons that i really like and made a band based on that, it would sound alot like friendly fires. nightmoves cutting this shit will be amazing.
the only mp3 i could find is an older one of a Frankie Knuckles cover. but definitely go to their myspace and get it on.
Friendly Fires - Your Love

and because if i don't do it now, i never will:
Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow (Nightmoves Remix)
Shitdisco - I Know Kung Fu (Nightmoves Remix)
Van She - Sex City (Nightmoves Remix)

  Dem 'Kets.
i've been so content with listening to cut copy's 'hearts on fire' for the rest of my life that i have been neglecting everything else. but i have managed to scrape together a few little treats.
apparently i'm still drunk from last night's thai buckets, so i apologise if i fuck this up and the links don't work.

Benjamin Diamond - Little Scare
This is the other guy from stardust. not braxe, not bengalter, the other one. apparently he made this super pop track. it's totally cheesy and straightforward, but awesome. it takes everything that was bad about mainstream dance music in the 90s and somehow makes it good.

Jamiroquai - Runaway (Alan Braxe Remix)
awesomely long, and so much swirling and building. another home run for braxe.

New Young Pony Club - The Bomb (The Teenagers Remix)
these fuckers are getting remixed to shit, but i have no problem with that. especially when its done super-well like this.

  the millions too many
nouvelle musique!

A Northern Chorus are a shoegaze-y mellow band. you want to relax? listen to them, seriously. their music seems like it would be good traveling music. like driving-across-the country-quiet-moment-reflecting-on-life kind of music.
if you enjoy Mogwai or Explosions In The Sky, you'll like these dudes.

their new album, entitled The Millions Too Many, is pretty soft for the most part. but of course there are the build ups where at the turning point the song becomes a sound explosion.

they're touring with The Twilight Sad, which makes me pretty pissed that they aren't coming to the Canadian west coast.

listen to them!

no stations - a northern chorus
ethic of the pioneer - a northern chorus

  fourteen autumns and fifteen winters
i've never heard of the Twilight Sad before... i'm so happy i gave them a listen.
it's some good post-rock-ish type music. and the singer is Scottish, which is just really cool. and there's accordion.

mapped by what surrounded them - the twilight sad

talking with fireworks/here, it never snowed - the twilight sad

the lp (Fourteen Autumns And Fifteen Winters) is out in april sometime. you can find it anywhere, i'm sure.

  Hearts On Fire.
I saw this new Cut Copy track somehwere a while ago, but didn't listen to it, and then totally forgot about it. but then I found it again today!
and it's definitely not a forgettable track. such a rad new Order bass solo/outro.
Cut Copy - Hearts On Fire

i don't know what to think.
i found the new Battles album Mirrored. i haven't ever really listened to Battles very much before now, and even now i don't really know what to think. i don't not like it, but i'm not huge on the whole math rock/whateveridon'tevenknow thing.. but it's still enjoyable if i'm in the right mood.

some info on Battles (because i knew nothing about them until i looked them up): comprised of ex-Helmet drummer John Stainer, ex-Don Caballero guitarist Ian Williams, ex-Lynx guitarist Dave Konopka, and Tyondai Braxton who plays guitar.... pretty much that means nothing to me, but i at least know of/enjoy Don Cab.

the album drops May 15th.

ddiamondd - battles
leyendecker - battles (the weird shit in this song reminds me of Four Tet)

  D.A.N.C.E.
Finally!
Justice - D.A.N.C.E
Discobelle, I am forever indebted to you. Apparently this is still only a demo version. I don't know how you can improve on this track, but if anyone can it's Justice.

One more reason to love Ian Hoar.
i get home from lucky at 3am and find this in my email:
the album so far rules asshole
ian"
not much more i can say. he's a legend in the making.

  i haven't anything else!
Plague Park will be released May 22nd! the new Handsome Furs album. i'm waiting patiently for the day it's leaked, and when it is, i will have it like lightning fast.
here's a new track off the album:

hate this city - handsome furs

which is the same track they're streaming on their myspace.
handsome furs space

i'm in a new music rut. i've been too busy working and sleeping.

in other news... i'm counting down until the big day! no, not my day of birth, but actually for the 2 days of wonderful music on the 24th and 25th.
have you secured your Justice ticket yet, aaron? cmon! i can't go and fully enjoy it without my mentor there.

  Sorry, Talia.
the first dreamboat show went off last night, and unfortunately she got kicked out for being a minor. soon you'll get to experience it. it was super fun though and i made cash money of my shitty cd sales. dolla dolla bills y'all!
anyways, here's a bunch of party tracks or whatever.

Teki Latex - Disco Dance With You
Juvelen - Watch your Step (Krazy Fiesta Remix)
The Rakes - We Danced Together (SebastiAn Remix)
Sneaky Soundsystem - UFO (Van She Tech Remix)
Hellogoodbye - Here (In Your Arms) (Young Americans Remix) (this deserves its doubleposting)
